How to win pool 8-ball? ›

One player must pocket balls of the group numbered 1 through 7 (solid colors), while the other player has 9 thru 15 (stripes). THE PLAYER POCKETING HIS GROUP FIRST AND THEN LEGALLY POCKETING THE 8-BALL WINS THE GAME.

In its original use, billiards refers to any type of cue sport, including carom billiards, pool, and snooker. On the other hand, pool specifically refers to a game played on a pool table. Traditionally, billiards tables do not have pockets.

If the player pockets the 8 ball and commits a foul or pockets it into another pocket than the one designated, the player loses the game. Otherwise (i.e., if the 8 ball is neither pocketed nor knocked off the table), the shooter's turn is simply over, even if a foul occurs.

Objective. The game is played on a rectangular six pocket table with 15 balls (seven yellows, seven reds and one black 8-ball) plus 1 white Cue Ball. To win, a player or team must pocket all their group of object balls in any order, and then legally pocket the 8 ball.
